ASUMSI DASAR TENTANG PEKERJA SEBAGAI BERSUMBER DAYA

Selama lebih dari empat puluh tahun terakhir ini, para pakar perilaku organisasi dan manajemen di Amerika Serikat berusaha untuk lebih memanusiakan doktrin employment-at-will dengan mengembangkan seperangkat asumsi baru yang melihat hakikat pekerja sebagai manusia yang lebih utuh, untuk melandasi pengembangan konsep atau model sumber daya manusia;

Konsep ini lahir dari gagasan tokoh-tokoh, seperti:
1.       Likert (1967);
2.       McGregor (1960);
3.       Schein (1972); dan
4.       Miles (1965);

Mereka berasumsi bahwa kerja itu bukanlah beban, dan bahwasannya pada umumnya orang bersedia memberikan kontribusi melebihi dari yang dituntut oleh pekerjaannya;

Tugas manajemen adalah bagaimana menggali sumber daya insani dari dalam diri pekerja melalui penciptaan suatu iklim kerja yang kondusif, di mana setiap anggota perusahaan tergugah semangat untuk memberi kontribusi yang terbaik;
